To follow knowledge like a sinking star

“And this gray spirit yearning in desire
To follow knowledge like a sinking star,
Beyond the utmost bound of human thought. ”

Alfred Lord Tennyson

And in so doing descend somewhere
in that wide horizon where cosmos
and cosmetics share their pedagogy
high above the petty pursuits of
accumulated experience and worldly wisdom.

Drifting above the thoroughfare
that became a waiting room, and from
thereon a mere passage, to a more
imaginable world – one where a new discovery
isn’t necessarily in the ways of the world
but in the ways of “your” world.

the shortest distance
is the distance back home
So when you have traveled the distance
and yet find yourself returning
to where you came from, know that
tis the natural state of being.
